Pipedrive and Mailchimp integration
Whalesync syncs Pipedrive people and Mailchimp contacts both ways. Subscription status, groups, and option fields match in both apps, and Mailchimp's contact ratings land on each person in Pipedrive.
What you can do with Pipedrive and Mailchimp
Email everyone who has bought from you
Pipedrive keeps a count of the won deals linked to each person. Sync that count into a number merge field in Mailchimp, and a segment of the contacts whose count is above zero is your customer list, growing as deals close. Everyone else in the audience gets the prospect emails instead.
See who reads your emails before you call
Mailchimp scores every contact from one to five stars on how they engage with your campaigns. Sync the score into a numerical custom field on Pipedrive people, and reps can sort their list so the most engaged people get the first calls.
Honor unsubscribes in Pipedrive too
Add a single-option field for Mailchimp status to Pipedrive people, and sync it with the contact's status. When someone unsubscribes from a campaign, their Pipedrive record says so within seconds. When a prospect asks a rep for the newsletter, the rep sets them to subscribed, and they join the audience with no confirmation email, so note how they agreed.
Invite each region to its own events
Keep each person's region in a single-option field in Pipedrive, and sync it with a Mailchimp group whose options have the same names. Event invitations go to one region at a time. When a subscriber changes their region from a Mailchimp email, the change reaches Pipedrive within seconds.

How to sync Pipedrive and Mailchimp
Step 1: Add the Pipedrive fields Mailchimp will fill
Whalesync can't add fields to Pipedrive, so create the custom fields on people first. Make a single-option field for Mailchimp status with the options subscribed, unsubscribed, transactional, cleaned, and pending, in lowercase as Mailchimp writes them; a numerical field for contact rating; and a single-option field for region whose options match the group names of a radio-button or dropdown group in Mailchimp.
Step 2: Connect your Pipedrive account
Click New sync, choose Pipedrive and Mailchimp, and authorize the Pipedrive connector by signing in to Pipedrive or pasting a personal API token. There's no workspace to choose: Whalesync reads the account's ten tables, and this sync uses Persons.
Step 3: Choose the Mailchimp audience
Sign in to Mailchimp through the Mailchimp connector, or use an API key, and pick the audience your people belong in. Each audience is a base of its own. Then pick its Contacts table.
Step 4: Map Persons to Contacts
Pair Pipedrive Persons with Mailchimp Contacts and map Email to Email. Automap's AI suggestions pair other fields by their names and types; keep the ones that fit and map the rest yourself, including the custom fields from step 1. Pipedrive's first and last name fields are read-only, so they flow one way into Mailchimp's name fields. Pipedrive needs a name to create a person, so if contacts found only in Mailchimp should become people, map Pipedrive's Name to a field they all have; if not, add a filter that keeps them in Mailchimp.
Step 5: Match on email and activate
When people are already in both apps, choose Email as the match field, and decide which app wins where a linked pair disagrees. Whalesync previews how many people and contacts it will create on each side. Then turn the sync on.
3 ways to connect Pipedrive and Mailchimp
-
Mailchimp sync for Pipedrive
Best when you want people added to an audience when their deal reaches a stage, and text fields are all you need to match.
- Built by Pipedrive and Paragon; each flow runs one way, and two flows make it two-way (Pipedrive)
- Filter-based flows pick up new contacts a few times a day
- Single- and multiple-option fields, and Mailchimp dropdowns and radio buttons, can't be mapped
-
Zapier
Best when one event should start a chain, like a new subscriber becoming a Pipedrive lead.
- Mailchimp's New Subscriber trigger can create a Pipedrive person or lead
- Data moves one way per Zap: Zapier doesn't support two-way syncing
- Each completed action counts as a task on your Zapier plan (Zapier)
-
Whalesync
Best when reps and marketers both change the same people, and option fields have to match.
- Status, groups, and option fields sync both ways
- Contact ratings and Pipedrive's deal counts cross over one way
- Priced by records in sync; updates don't add to the bill

Frequently asked questions
Does Pipedrive integrate with Mailchimp?
Yes. Pipedrive's Mailchimp sync app, built with Paragon, runs one-way flows that you can pair for both directions, and Pipedrive's older one-way Mailchimp app is no longer publicly listed. Zapier connects the two with one-way automations, and Whalesync syncs people and contacts both ways, select fields and groups included.
How do I add Pipedrive contacts to a Mailchimp audience?
Sync Pipedrive Persons with the audience's Contacts and match them on email. A person added without a status is stored in Mailchimp as transactional, which gets no marketing email. Set the status to subscribed only for people who agreed to your emails, because Mailchimp adds them with no confirmation step.
Will a Mailchimp unsubscribe show up in Pipedrive?
Yes, into a single-option custom field you add to people in Pipedrive. Mailchimp sends a webhook when someone unsubscribes, and the person's field changes within seconds. Mailchimp won't let anyone resubscribe a person who unsubscribed themselves, so that change comes back as a sync issue.
Can I sync Pipedrive deals to Mailchimp?
Not as deals, since a Mailchimp audience holds contacts only. What crosses over is the people: Pipedrive's counts of each person's open and won deals can fill number merge fields in Mailchimp, one way, and your segments can use them.
Is the Pipedrive Mailchimp sync real-time?
For most changes, yes. Pipedrive sends a webhook when a person changes, and Mailchimp sends one when a contact subscribes, unsubscribes, or updates their profile, so those cross within seconds. Mailchimp's contact ratings, tags, and archived contacts have no webhook, and they arrive on Whalesync's scheduled full pass over the audience.
Do I need to set up fields in Pipedrive first?
Yes, for anything Pipedrive doesn't have, such as Mailchimp status or contact rating: Whalesync can't add Pipedrive fields, so create them as custom fields on people. On the Mailchimp side, Whalesync can create a merge field for you while you map.
