How to connect Attio and Postgres in 3 steps
Whalesync doesn't just connect Attio and Postgres; it syncs them. Simple connections are brittle. They only move data one way, creating data silos and requiring constant maintenance.
Whalesync was built on a different principle: true, two-way sync. This creates a single, reliable source of truth between your most important tools. And while it's powerful enough for engineers, it was designed for operators. You can build a rock-solid data integration in minutes.
Connect your apps
Securely connect your Attio and Postgres accounts in seconds. Just authorize Whalesync with a few clicks and you're ready for the next step.
How to sync PostgreSQL to Attio in 5 minutes
PostgreSQL is where your product's truth lives. Users, accounts, workspaces, subscriptions, usage totals: if it matters to your application, there is a Postgres table for it. Attio sits on the other side of the business. It is a modern CRM with a flexible data model you can shape around how your company actually sells, rather than forcing your process into someone else's template.
The best CRM setups are the ones that reflect what is really happening in the product. When a rep opens a company record, they should see the live picture: who signed up, what plan they are on, how the account has grown. But that data is locked inside your database, and getting it out usually means asking an engineer for a query, waiting on a CSV, or committing to build and maintain an internal pipeline forever.
Whalesync offers a different path: a no-code, real-time, two-way sync between PostgreSQL and Attio. Rows in your database become records in your CRM, changes flow in both directions, and there is no sync code for anyone to write or maintain. Here is how to set it up in about five minutes.
Why two-way sync beats CSV exports and Zapier
One-off exports and trigger-based automations both fail the same test: they cannot keep two living systems consistent.
A CSV export is accurate for exactly as long as nobody signs up, upgrades, or churns. In a growing product, that is minutes. And importing spreadsheets into a CRM by hand is how duplicate records are born.
Zapier-style tools are built around app events, and a Postgres database does not emit tidy new-lead events on its own. Even when you manage to wire something up, the data flows one way. Anything your sales team adds or corrects in Attio never makes it back to the database, so the two systems start drifting apart from day one.
Whalesync works differently. It treats your Postgres tables and your Attio records as two views of the same data, keeping them continuously matched in real time. An insert in Postgres becomes an Attio record moments later. An edit in Attio lands back in your table just as fast. No cron jobs, no scripts, no code.
How to sync PostgreSQL to Attio in 5 minutes
Here is the setup from start to finish.
Step 1: Create your Whalesync account
Sign up for Whalesync, which starts you on a free trial, and click 'New sync'. Choose PostgreSQL and Attio as the two apps you want to connect.
Step 2: Connect PostgreSQL
Authorize the PostgreSQL connector by entering your database connection details, then choose which tables you want Whalesync to work with. Whalesync reads your schema, so your real tables and columns are what you will see in the mapping step.
Step 3: Connect Attio
Authorize the Attio connector and select the Attio workspace you want the data to sync with. This gives Whalesync permission to read and update your CRM records on your behalf.
Step 4: Map your tables and fields with AI automapping
Pair each Postgres table with an Attio object: a users table with people, an organizations table with companies, and so on. Whalesync's AI automapping suggests the table and field pairings by matching names and types, so most of the work is reviewing suggestions rather than wiring fields by hand. You can sync every column or just the ones your CRM needs.
Step 5: Turn on your sync
Whalesync previews how many records will be created on each side before anything moves, and existing rows are matched to existing Attio records using the fields you mapped. When the preview looks right, activate the sync and you are live.
Done! PostgreSQL and Attio are synced
New signups now appear in Attio on their own, and your CRM finally keeps up with your product.
What syncs between PostgreSQL and Attio
Whalesync syncs your Postgres tables with Attio's people, companies, and deals, as well as your custom Attio objects. That last part is worth underlining: if you have modeled workspaces, subscriptions, or projects as custom objects in Attio, you can feed each one from a matching database table, and edits made in Attio flow back to Postgres too.
On the database side, any table can participate, with columns mapped to Attio attributes field by field. You decide exactly which tables and columns are in scope, so production data you do not want in the CRM simply stays out of the sync.
Three ways teams use a PostgreSQL to Attio sync
1. Product-led sales without the engineering backlog
Every self-serve signup in your users table becomes a person in Attio in real time. Reps can see new accounts the moment they appear and reach out while interest is hot, and nobody had to build or babysit an internal pipeline to make it happen.
2. Company records with live product context
Sync plan, seat count, and account status from your database into Attio companies. When sales or success opens a record, they see the current state of the account, not whatever happened to be true at the last import.
3. CRM edits that reach your product
Because the sync is two-way, fields your team sets in Attio, like an account owner or a customer tier, can flow back into Postgres. Your internal dashboards, and even your product itself, can then use data that previously lived only in the CRM.
Start syncing PostgreSQL and Attio today
Your database already knows everything your CRM wishes it knew. With a two-way sync between PostgreSQL and Attio, that knowledge stops being trapped behind SQL queries and starts showing up where your team actually works.
Setup takes about five minutes, there is no code to write, and you can start on a free trial. Ready to give your CRM a live connection to your product? Get syncing today.

Frequently asked questions
Is it really two-way sync?
Yes! Whalesync offers true two-way sync. Unlike most apps that offer one-way syncs in two directions, Whalesync actually keeps your data in sync bi-directionally. Update data in one app and see it instantly to sync to the other (or vice-versa).
What counts as a "record in sync"?
When a record syncs for the first time it becomes a record in sync. For example, if you sync 10 rows from Airtable to Webflow, you will have 10 records in sync. We do not "double-count" records across the two different apps.
Unlike other automation tools that count updates or tasks, Whalesync allows unlimited updates: those records can change as many times as you'd like.
What is a "sync"?
A sync is a connection between two different apps (e.g. Salesforce & Airtable). When you turn sync on, Whalesync will continuously sync data between your apps.
A single sync includes as many data tables and field as you'd like.
Does Whalesync support multi-reference fields? Rich text?
You bet! We've simplified all the annoying parts of setting up a sync with Zapier. We support multi-reference fields, rich text, and images. For a full list, see our supported fields docs.
What happens if my data has an error and can't be synced?
If data can't be synced (e.g. a required field is missing), Whalesync will alert you on the Issues page. This alert provides the exact error from your destination app and any other info that will help you fix the issue. In the meantime, Whalesync will continue to sync all data that doesn't have errors.
